Branson does a fine job in promoting itself as the Live Country Music capital of the World and the Ozarks' answer to Nashville. Dubbed the Las Vegas of the Ozarks, but without the casinos, Branson is the epitome of good, clean, family fun and is either a love-it-or-hate-it tourist magnet.
Set appealingly at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, surrounded by three lakes, in southwest Missouri - within a day's drive of fifty percent of the US population - the city attracts over seven million visitors annually. Most come to see country and corny comedy routines in the city's theatres.
While some may find Branson overly commercial and perhaps a trifle trashy and low-brow, the town relies on tourism and unashamedly advertises the fact. From discount shopping outlets to outdoor leisure activities and a host of theme parks, you'll find it all at Branson.
